This article is meant to guide you on how to answer excellently a psychometric exam which can consist of two parts – the personality/interest test and the aptitude test.
First of all, understand that in most situations you will be provided with a pencil, a calculator and a desktop screen. The test can be online so results can be generated immediately. It allows the recruiter to have an early picture on what type of person you are and if you can proceed with the next step in the hiring process.
The first essential step is to intently be aware of the instructions and if you don’t understand something, then never hesitate to ask the human test administrator. Don’t rush for time, take time to think which is the best answer of a certain question because both tests should be multiple answer types.
Part of the aptitude test can be the numerical reasoning test, the verbal reasoning test and the abstract reasoning test. If you think you score low in all these tests, don’t panic. The company will always have a slot for you. The most important part in the recruitment process is the result of the personality and interest test as well as your technical capability. Once you’re determined to be both a technical asset and a team player to the company, aptitude counts less.
