The 3 guiding principles of writing an effective application letter
Writing a compelling application letter can summarize your intent to apply for a job fast and easy. With a well written letter of application, recruiters can be given a chance to examine you, your person, and the entirety of your application making them more interested in knowing more about you. In a sea of job applicants out there, your letter to apply for a job is your real first chance to make sure you are remembered and given notice – and your application taken seriously. This will give way for a detailed run through of your resume. If your resume is also well written then you are off to a very good start into an organization’s selection process.
Keep it short and simple
An application letter should be short and straight to the point. It does not bother with lengthy storytelling, but presents your case to the recruiters in the least words possible. For now settle on good grammar and impeccable spelling.
Outline your personal and professional strengths
Write briefly your personal and professional strengths then carefully tie it up to the competencies that the job you are applying for requires from its job applicants. If you are applying for being a manager, you might want to mention your friendly nature and your ability to develop relationships with people (tying it up to leading and managing individuals) and then mention your professional qualities such as objectivity and decisiveness (tying it up to your being a result oriented manager). With your resume backing up the details you are giving the organization all the reasons they need to choose you among the other candidates.
Why apply to this specific organization?
You also need to briefly discuss your familiarity with the organization you are forwarding your application. Explain the extent of your knowledge of the organization’s business and its values and principles. Align yourself with those things and make sure that organization can see you as a good fit to what it does, the customers that it serve, and the direction it is currently taking with its business. Organizational fit is one of the most important elements in selection and placement. And by making it clear in your application letter that you are a safe bet for the job, organizations will take careful attention of your application and your progress to the very end of the hiring process.
