- future of recruiting, new applicant tracking, recruiting technology
The other day I was discussing with a potential client how our applicant tracking system (ATS) worked. She was extremely surprised we don’t do any resume parsing unlike most of our competitors. She asked:
“How can you have an ATS without the resume parsing and not focus on this great database functionality?”
My answer was simple: that is old technology and not relevant now or in the future. What has happened and what we realized is that LinkedIn is now the biggest database of “resumes or CVs” in the world. LinkedIn is also the most up-to-date database in the world. Today any serious professional has a LinkedIn profile. And for $50 a month (or less) you can now access their entire database, giving you better access to anyone in the world. So why would you even want to keep a database of potential hires internally, when by the time you get the resumes the information is out of date.
People keep their information up-to-date on LinkedIn more than anywhere else and the newest data is always available.
I am a huge believer in what LinkedIn is doing, and I promote them all the time. It’s the movement of all the technology moving to the cloud, as you may have heard. I have spoken with them a few times and one of their reps told me that you wouldn’t imagine the kind of data they have on industries you wouldn’t think are technically savy. Like oil riggers for example.
LinkedIn is the future of databases and we at VidCruiter have realized this. We have an awesome search algorithm in our software to allow you to pull anyone up, at any time, based on their experience and it also allows you to tag people for whatever job you would like. But we don’t offer resume parsing. It’s just not part of the future.
We have been focusing on future trends of hiring and video is a lot more important in terms of where hiring is going, for many reasons that you can explore in other posts. As for recruiters looking for resume parsing technologyI would recommend they re-think the idea and take a look at what LinkedIn can offer for a much smaller price.VidCruiter’s VidTracking tool, partnered with LinkedIn database, gives you the best possible solution on the market today and will do for many years to come.If you visit our product page you will see why, and you can even see it on LinkedIn… here.
