Psychometric testing, also known as employee assessments, determines both the emotional and intelligence aptitude of an applicant. These results help recruiters to be well informed on whether the person is fit to be employed in the company – on whether he or she is a team player or can be more productive working alone; on whether his or her employment is for the betterment of the quality of the products and services that the company offers to its consumers and much more.
But let’s take a closer look at a few specific advantages of psychometric testing:
1. It helps ensure fully informed decisions for recruitment and promotion.
You see, psychometric testing is not only for recruitment but also for existing company employees who are up for promotion. Another interesting advantage of doing this sort of testing internally is that it can encourage employee development by encouraging your employee to better understand his or her weaknesses and strengths.
2. It helps individuals better understand themselves.
The notion that results of a psychometric test is for the recruiter’s and the supervisor’s benefit only is wrong. The result can be furnished to the applicant. Even if the applicant is ultimately rejected from the employment, he or she would know one’s personality weaknesses and can improve on them for future applications.
3. It gains accurate results that cannot be faked.
This is why applicants are not encouraged to study a psychometric test.
4. It gains objective results and compares individuals fairly.
Psychometric tests are one way to discourage discrimination in the workplace and promote equal opportunity.
