Questions about the Applicant’s Personal Goals
Personal goal questions are those that seek to identify one’s goals within the work environment that candidates also apply in their personal and family lives as well as in their extracurricular activities outside the working atmosphere.
While doing the interview process, the interviewers need to keep in mind that an applicant applying for a particular position is always motivated for some reason when applying. Thus, it is necessary to ask him about his intentions for applying as well as how the job position is related to his life experiences. It has to be noted too that the applicant must be asked questions regarding his attitude towards every learning experience he’ll encounter as this will give the interviewers an insight into how the applicant is within and outside his work environment.
Here are some applicant assessment questions that can help the interviewer determine the applicant’s personal goals:
-Are you comfortable with your present workload?
-Are you motivated to work every day?
-How can the company help you accomplish your specific tasks?
-Were there any instances when you’ve put yourself at a disadvantage just to get things done? Can you tell us about them?
-What do you think are the weaknesses of your job position?
-What can cause you to become dissatisfied with your job?
-What type of projects excites you?
-When can you say that you’ve done well in your job?
-Do you enjoy your job?
-Under what work conditions do you usually find yourself doing well in accomplishing your tasks?
-What are your positive and negative traits, behaviors, attitudes?
-Tell me about a specific task you’ve enjoyed doing.
-What are your short term goals in life? How about your long term goals?
-Think of a person you envy most, is he a successful person for you? How can you say so?
-Do you consider yourself as successful?
-Have you ever failed at doing your job? Can you tell us about this?
-How grounded are you when setting your goals?
The questions above are simple but effective employee screening process questions. They are pretty straightforward but require deep answers. These questions can illustrate the qualities, talents, and skills of the applicants without them feeling that the interviewer is probing too much into their personal characteristics. Using these easy to ask and easy to understand behavior-based interview questions can help companies improve their employment assessment mechanics.
