Recruitment Management System (RMS)
A recruitment management system is software or a tool used by human resources departments, recruiters, and hiring managers. An RMS is typically multifunctional and serves as an essential tool in facilitating a company’s recruitment and hiring process.
Recruitment management systems help HR professionals and recruiters with these tasks and more:
- Posting and managing jobs
- Capturing applications
- Tracking applicants
- Matching candidates with open positions
- Scanning resumes for keywords
- Scheduling phone calls and interviews
- Collecting and saving notes about candidates
A recruitment management system can be used either as a standalone tool or as a replacement or supplement for an applicant tracking system (ATS). An ATS posts jobs and tracks candidates, while an RMS can help human resources departments further engage candidates and automate many manual tasks.
The most robust recruitment management systems include an ATS, and some of the functions are similar to relationship management tools that can keep applicants engaged and connected.
Some recruitment management systems allow candidates to apply through third-party platforms such as LinkedIn or directly from job boards. Additionally, some of the most comprehensive recruitment management systems can allow a hiring manager to conduct pre-recorded or virtual interviews and automated reference checking. With an RMS, companies can build and maintain a database of prospective candidates.
Example:
With a recruitment management system, hiring managers and recruiters working with a large candidate pool can more effectively manage their recruitment and hiring process. Many time-consuming but essential tasks can be automated, freeing up the recruiter’s time for tasks such as interviewing and following up with applicants.
